NA - Agriturismo, Dove dormire, Homepage, Mangiare e bere, Ristoranti e osterie

My name is Francesco Rinaldi and, together with my wife, Cristina, for 40 years we have worked together in Agriculture, hospitality and catering. Half of our lives have been spent happily between Tuscany and Umbria which we have chosen to share, with you; two beautiful regions that we love and cherish.

La Collina is a family-run establishment. Our staff have been rigorously selected for their professionality and competence and are all from the local area. The hotel’s spirit lies in the ideals for which we stand: quality. From the restaurant to the lounge, the rooms to the gardens, we believe in keeping with the traditions and high standards. Nothing is left to chance: The Arte Povera and wrought iron furniture, typical of the Tuscan region, gives our clients a feeling of “times gone by”, a chance to relax and let go of stress and tension.

La Collina is situated a few hundred meters away from Pienza with a beautiful view over the splendid town. Our garden is the perfect get-away for an afternoon siesta during the summer months, to rest and gaze over the Borgo, the “ideal City” created by Pope Pio II Pioccolomini and built by the genius Architect Rossellino, declared an UNESCO patrimony in 1996. During the summer our guests are welcome to use our unique bio-pool, a tiny eco-system in it’s own right: Water from the main pool circulates and filters into the smaller pool filled with water Iris and Lotus flowers that purify the water that circulates back into the larger “swimming” area. Purified and all natural.

We are lovers of the simple things in life, the serenity of the small things that we want to share with all of our friends who stay with us.

THE ROOMS

Our arched ceilings are all open-beamed; beams that have supported the man-made terracotta tiles for over a century and are the framing beauty of our ten Guest Bedrooms. All of our beds are hand-made wrought iron bed frames with hand painted panels or iron sculptures. All of them look over the gardens, the swimming pool and the wonderful town of Pienza. As we mentioned earlier, the furniture is Arte Povera and the soft lighting compliments the terracotta floors and ceilings, giving off a warm glow of familiarity and romanticism to suit every taste.

Our standard rooms are all double, however, for families with children there are larger rooms available with comfortable sofa beds that turn into beds that can sleep two children or teenagers.

All the rooms have large, comfortable private bathrooms with toiletries and hair-dryers. The Wi-Fi is free with a password on request at the reception.

The cleaning of all the public and private areas of La Collina is rigorously supervised at all times by the owners and all our rooms are checked with care.

The buffet breakfast and internal parking area are included in the booking.

THE RESTAURANT

The hand-made terracotta tiles and arched brick ceilings are the first elements that welcome our guests to the restaurant. The atmosphere is warm, cosy and relaxed.

Our personal and professional experience in the fields of agriculture and livestock guarantees the genuineness of the produce, strictly upholding the traditions of Tuscan Cuisine. The seasonal vegetables, legumes, cereals, pork and beef are all biologically certified and guarantee quality and taste.

The olive oil, that we produce, is 100% biological and is the perfect finish to our dishes and is always on the table. The pasta always freshly made by hand and the famous Pecorino cheese of Pienza is protagonist of our appetisers, accompanied by the best cured meat of the area, not forgetting the bruschetta with fresh home-grown tomatoes. We also cater for vegetarians and Gluten-free: please do inform our staff at the time of booking for any dietary needs.

Our chef prepares every singular dish with care that is pleasing on the eye and the palate! Desserts are hand-made by Cristina, a perfect end to a delicious Tuscan meal.

The menu varies according to the seasons. The restaurant can seat up to 45 guests making it idea for important family occasions or an intimate dinner for two or a group of friends.

The house wine, from the cellars of Valeriani, an I.G.T certified wine produced in the nearby town of Chianciano in the province of Siena, is always served with meals. However, our guests are free to choose from our wine list a large selection of local wines, from aromatic whites to full-bodied reds or care-free sparkling Prosecco.
